Nubank’s CEO David Vélez and His Partner Mariel Reyes Launch Philanthropy Platform

Nubank’s (NU) CEO and co-founder David Vélez launched on Monday a philanthropic platform in partnership with his wife, Peruvian entrepreneur Mariel Reyes Milk.
With the platform, VelezReyes+, Vélez said he intends to “bring a new look to philanthropy in Latin America, to empower social entrepreneurs who are contributing to solving one of society’s most complex problems: unequal distribution in access to opportunities,” he posted on LinkedIn.
“Every child is born with the potential to do wonderful things,” the platform states in a presentational vide, which can be viewed here (in Spanish):

In August 2021, Vélez and Mariel signed “The Giving Pledge”, a project among a number of billionaires – started by Bill and Melinda Gates, alongside Warren Buffett – who have committed to donate, during their lifetimes, most of their wealth to philanthropy.
According to Forbes, Vélez currently has an estimated fortune of $4.2 billion.
Focused on education and leadership in Latin America, VelezReyes+ will provide financial and institutional support to initiatives that seek to accelerate social transformation in the region and create opportunities for vulnerable children and youth.
VélezReyes+ has already helped non-profit organizations Alianza Educativa, Latin American Leadership Academy (LALA), Parceiros da Educação, Teach for All, Enseña por Colombia, Ensina Brasil, and Enseña Peru.
