Students around the world were suddenly sent home from schools in March in order to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
Many of the schools were not prepared to offer online education and many of the students lack the financial resources to pay for the additional costs associated with online learning.
Millions of young people are now stuck at home without the guidance or the means to continue their education.
Unfortunately, this negatively affects students in developing economies like Ghana the most.
In order to help university students, continue with their education during this unprecedented lockdown period in Ghana, NGO Music Loves Math and software development agency KNG Technologies have created a free online educational program and internship for prospective software engineers.
In addition to free courses and mentorship, students in the program
receive a weekly stipend for internet access.

The initial class has 20 students and is broken down into 4 groups, each with its own instructor/mentor teaching a different aspect of software development.
Front end web-development- React and Redux.
Front end mobile development – Flutter.
Back end development – Node.js.
Beginner track – Javascript.
The program lasts 6 weeks and includes 4 weeks of interactive online learning with individual mentoring.
It culminates in a 2-week project, which is guided and evaluated by
software developers from KNG Technologies.
KNG Technologies is providing the teachers/mentors free of charge and Music Loves Math is donating the funds for the students’ internet charges.
