Abstract

Despite the challenges that come with the impact of COVID, a notable outcome is the accelerated growth in technology for Africa. The Africa region has witnessed how young people, globally and especially on the continent, are rising and setting new trends in healthcare, sports, fashion, science, agriculture, finance, commerce and many more. They are leading initiatives to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19 on economic and social lives. They are inventing and creating opportunities to build “the future we want” with the use of technology and digital innovation.

This working session will discuss and highlight how the potentials of digital innovation and technology could be harnessed, to promote trade in the Africa region, to accelerate sustainable economic recovery, and build back better on the continent. The role of youth led initiatives and innovations in accelerating this progress would be particularly spotlighted for action.
