Okada riders will need GH¢25,000 to buy government mini cars

Okada small passenger government vehicles are ready. Officials from the Coastal Development Authority (CODA) have released a media report explaining the conditions for the sale of the vehicles

The price for these four-seater cars is 25,000 cedis. The conditions for purchasing these Bajaj Qute vehicles under the CODA Drive program include the following: 1. A person must be a member of any farmer, fisherman, taxi driver, ‘Okada’ passenger or ‘Aboboyaa’ drivers association for at least one year. 2. A person must be living within the Coastal Development Zone (Oti, Volta, Greater Accra, Central, Western and Western North).

3. A person must have a valid driver’s license, a minimum of Class B.

4. A person must be a member of the CODA Credit Union and have a CODA Credit Union membership card.

5. The person must complete an application form which must be approved by two sureties.

6. The person must submit the completed forms to the regional CODA office for processing.

Also, okada riders are expected to have a Ghanaian Card, a valid driver’s license, a minimum of Class B and must provide their registered motorcycle. ICODA Drive is an intervention to improve livelihoods and job creation by assisting with the transportation of individuals and small businesses within the Coastal Development Zone. In the meantime, the payment will be on rental purchases with an initial 20% of the sale price. A 2% interest rate balance per year will be distributed over the same 24 months.
