US businesses to further enhance trade with Ghanaian counterparts – AMCHAM President

1 Mins read

President of the American Chamber of Commerce, Ghana, Ayesha Bedwei Ibe, has stated that US businesses will further deepen trade with their Ghanaian counterparts, following the launch of its ultra-modern new office at East Legon in Accra.

According to her, the chamber has put measures in place to take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to facilitate activities of its members.

“Now that we have this bigger and a large space, we going to have dedicated space for  AfCFTA  Resource Centre to analyse bills and bring our members together to influence how these regulations affect the two countries”.

She added that the edifice will provide space for its members to meet regularly and interact closely to promote their businesses.

Speaking on the benefit of trade for both countries, she added that the chamber has been keen in facilitating trade where members have the opportunity to invest in the USA and vice versa.

“We are really doing a lot together, in terms of boosting trade. AmCham has always been active, we are looking at how Ghanaian businesses can invest in America and American businesses can also invest in Ghana as well”.

The American Chamber of Commerce was founded on September 27, 1989 and was originally known as the “Association of American Businesses”. It was formally established in August 1997 as the American Chamber of Commerce, Ghana (AMCHAM), and an affiliate of the US Chamber of Commerce.

The American Chamber of Commerce (Ghana) is a voluntary association of firms, professionals and business people, working to create an environment where business can thrive between Ghanaian and American communities.
